How do you play Zebra Operation?

Game Setup

  • Shuffle the stack of document cardsand place it in the center of the table.
  • Give each team or player a slate (or leave the cards as they are) and place the wipeable markersand cloths within reach: they will be used to cross out superfluous lines on the documents.
  • Choose a game mode (teams, cooperation, beginner/advanced) and define the number of rounds.

Gameplay outline

  1. A player draws a document card and silently reads the text.
  2. They cross out (with a dry-erase marker) the lines they deem unnecessary, then read aloudthe remaining text.
  3. Their team (or teammates) tries to guess the sought-after element from the remaining fragments. The more information provided, the more the "suspicion" on your group increases (risk/score mechanic).
  4. Depending on the success (guessing correctly or not), the team scores points or incurs a penalty; the card is erased to be put back into play if necessary, and play passes to the next player.

Win/Loss Condition

  • The winner is the team or player with the most points after the agreed number of rounds. The exact rules (points, penalties) depend on the chosen mode (beginner vs advanced, teams vs coop).
  • The game emphasizes the balance between saying too much(makes guessing easier but increases suspicion) and hiding too much(protects the team but reduces the chances of finding the answer).
