How to play Ace of Spades?

Game Setup

Each game starts with a standard 52-card deck plus one Joker. Enemy cards are shuffled to set the progression of your adventure. Place the player board, the Hell tile, and prepare the various counters that will be used to track your available actions.

Your objective is simple: defeat 12 successive enemies before you run out of resources.

Gameplay outline

In each round, you primarily have two choices:

Play a poker hand

Select a combination of five cards to attack your opponent. Each classic poker combination has a different offensive value. Face cards increase the damage dealt, while Aces represent the most powerful cards in the game.

Discard and draw

You can improve your hand by discarding certain cards and drawing new ones. This mechanic allows you to search for the best possible combinations before attacking.

Win/Loss Condition

To win the game, you must eliminate the 12 enemies that make up your adventure, leading to the final confrontation against Lord Overkill.

Each combat is limited by a specific number of playable hands and available discards. If either of these counters reaches zero before the enemy is defeated, the game is immediately lost.

  • Prioritize high-yield poker combinations

Not all hands are created equal. Before playing, always evaluate the ratio between potential damage and resources consumed. A well-prepared combo can make all the difference against the toughest enemies.

  • Anticipate battles against Acolytes

Acolytes often represent a turning point in the game. They are more resilient than Minions but also offer valuable rewards. Prepare your deck several turns in advance to be ready for these confrontations.

  • Manage your discards with precision

Discards are one of the most important resources in the game. Using them too quickly can leave you without a solution in advanced combat. Always keep a few for critical situations.

All about Ace of Spades

Is Ace Of Spade a classic poker game?

No. Poker provides the basis for the card combinations, but Ace Of Spades adds combat, progression, and resource management mechanics that make it a completely different strategic experience.

How does co-op mode work?

In a two-player game, you share a single hand and must communicate in a limited way. Coordination becomes essential to optimize combinations and effectively manage available resources.

Are the parties always different?

Yes. The order of enemies encountered, the available cards, and the bonuses obtained as you progress create varied situations that renew each adventure.

Why is resource management so important?

Playable hands and discards are limited for each fight. Poor management of these resources can lead to defeat, even against an almost defeated enemy.
