How to play Alice is Missing?
Game Setup
- Shuffle the game cards(characters, locations, events, and clues) and place them within everyone's reach.
- Each player chooses or is assigned a character with personal ties to Aliceand the other protagonists.
- Create a communication group (SMS, WhatsApp, Discord, Messenger, etc.)that all players will use to send messages during the game.
- One player takes on the role of facilitator(equivalent to a game master) to explain the rules and guide the group, but they also participate in the story.
Gameplay outline
The game unfolds in two main phases:
- Narrative Creation (≈45 minutes): You develop the relationships between the characters, their connections to Alice, and the reasons for their involvement in the investigation.
- Silent Investigation (≈90 minutes): Players communicate solely via text messages(without speaking aloud) to share clues, theories, and emotions. The group advances the plot as new Clue or Event cards are revealed.
The narrative progresses in real-time, and players must rely on their exchanges to understand Alice's disappearance, the secrets of Silent Falls, and the personal dynamics between the characters.
Win/Loss Condition
- No traditional victory or defeat: The goal of Alice is Missingis not to "win" in the classical sense, but to tell a strong and coherent collective story. Satisfaction comes from narrative progression and discovering the secrets of Alice and her friends.
- The game naturally ends when the playtime (approximately 90 minutes)is up or when the group feels they have concluded the investigation based on the narrative elements explored.
