Antinomy is a two-player microgame that throws you into a wizarding showdown where time becomes your playground. In this compact strategic duel, every decision alters the timeline and brings players closer to powerful paradox crystals. Between hand management, movement through the space-time continuum, and direct confrontations, each game offers an intense experience full of twists and turns. Behind its minimalist format lies a deep thinking game where anticipation and adaptation are essential.

How to play Antinomy?
Game Setup
Set up the timeline with the relic cards in the center of the table, then deal the starting cards to both players. A codex is placed at one end of the line to define the active color at the start of the game. Each player begins their quest with the goal of collecting paradox crystals before their opponent.
Gameplay outline
- In turn, a player chooses a card from their hand to travel through time. They can advance into the future by using the card's numerical value or return to the past using its color or symbol. Once the move is made, the played card is exchanged with the one on the reached timeline.
- The goal is to gradually build a hand capable of causing a paradox. Bringing together certain card combinations allows players to generate crystals and modify the state of the codex, which directly influences subsequent turns. Players can also provoke a confrontation when they occupy the same temporal location to steal crystals from their opponent.
- The game constantly alternates between personal optimization and disruption of the opponent's strategy, creating a duel that is as tactical as it is psychological.
Win/Loss Condition
The first player to obtain five paradox crystals immediately wins the game and takes control of the space-time continuum.
Our Tips for Winning
-
Build your paradoxes several turns in advance
Looking for an immediate combination is not always the best approach. Gradually build up your hand so you can chain several paradoxes over successive turns.
-
Constantly monitor codex color
The codex directly influences the effective cards for creating paradoxes or winning encounters. Anticipating its changes allows you to stay ahead of the curve.
-
Use clashes as a catch-up weapon
If your opponent is accumulating crystals, deliberately seek to provoke a duel to regain the advantage rather than focusing solely on your own development.
FAQ – All About Antinomy
Why is Antinomy considered an excellent two-player microgame?
The game combines movement, hand-building, direct confrontation, and time management in just a few cards, while offering true strategic depth.
Does the time travel theme actually influence the gameplay?
Yes, traveling to the future and returning to the past are at the core of the mechanics and directly alter the available cards.
Are clashes inevitable?
No, they appear when players land on the same position, creating moments of tension where you have to choose between caution and risk-taking.
Does Antinomy favor calculation or bluffing more?
Both approaches work. Calculation helps prepare for paradoxes, while bluffing allows you to manipulate opponents' expectations.
