In Bella Vista, players take on the role of architects tasked with building the most harmonious and profitable city possible. Between residential areas, rivers, and lush parks, each building must be carefully placed to respect urban constraints and optimize generated income. This city-building game is appealing both for its highly immersive 3D components and its accessible yet surprisingly tactical mechanics. Each game gradually transforms the table into a veritable miniature city full of relief and competition between architects.

How to play Bella Vista?
Game Setup
Assemble the Neighborhood, River, and Park tiles to form the city. Set up the Offer board, as well as the Contract and Objective cards. Each player receives their starting buildings and resources.
Gameplay outline
- Each round begins with a bidding phase during which players spend money to choose their position in the turn order. Playing earlier often allows players to claim the best spots, but costs more resources.
- Players then place their buildings in the city, respecting several constraints: proximity to parks or rivers, height of neighboring constructions, location in certain districts, or specific municipal objectives. Each building placed can generate income depending on its immediate surroundings and the contracts fulfilled.
- Verticality plays an important role: building higher than one's neighbors can become very profitable, but also requires good anticipation of future opponent placements. The different board configurations make each game unique and force players to constantly adapt their strategy.
Win/Loss Condition
After each player has constructed their eight buildings, the game ends. Players then tally their money, completed contracts, and bonuses related to urban objectives. The wealthiest architect wins the game.
Our Tips for Winning
-
Control turn order at the right time
In Bella Vista, playing first can secure extremely profitable locations. However, overpaying every round can quickly reduce your profits. You need to know how to identify the truly decisive turns.
-
Intelligently leveraging heights
Taller buildings often offer better income and more influence in certain neighborhoods. However, building too high too soon can attract rival competition to your area.
-
Anticipate urban constraints
Municipal goals and placement restrictions regularly shift priorities. Keeping multiple build options open avoids getting stuck mid-game.
