How to play Bohnanza?

Game Setup

  • Each player receives a hand of 5 bean cards that they must keep in order, without ever reorganizing them.
  • Each player has two fields to plant their beans.
  • The remaining cards form a draw pile placed in the center of the table.
  • An area is provided for discards and exchanges between players.

Gameplay outline

  • In turn, a player must plant the first card from their hand into one of their fields.
  • They can then plant the second card, observing the planting rules (only one type of bean per field).
  • The player then draws two face-up cards and can trade them with other players.
  • Trading is at the heart of the game: negotiation, donations, and bartering are allowed to optimize one's plantings.
  • The cards obtained are then planted in the player's fields.
  • Finally, the player replenishes their hand by drawing new cards.
  • At any time, a player can harvest a field to earn money based on the number of cards accumulated.

Win/Loss Condition

  • The goal is to earn the most "Thunes" by selling your crops at the right time.
