How to play the game Whiners?

Game Setup


Each player is dealt a hand of cards. The game is played over 4 rounds, each consisting of 7 tricks. Before starting, players choose the direction in which they will play their cards, which directly influences their strategy for the round.
Then, each player announces a bid: the number of tricks they think they will win during the round.



Gameplay outline

In each trick, players must follow suit if possible. Otherwise, they can trump or play another card. Some special actions allow the game's course to be altered, such as the "super-trump."

The game's great originality lies in "chouinage" (whining): if a player plays the lowest card in the trick, they can either win a point or adjust their hand by turning over a card. This allows them to bounce back even in an unfavorable situation.

Win/Loss Condition


At the end of each round, players score points if they have successfully bet or if they have effectively used the crying. After the 4 rounds, the player with the most points wins the game.
