Death Valley is a minimalist card game for 1 to 2 players, in which you try to assemble the most beautiful images and memories from your journey through Death Valley. Each turn, players either choose to add a card to their Journey or move cards to their Souvenir Album, a safer area. The cards provide stars (points), special abilities that modify the game, and astonishing facts about this iconic park. A "Backseat Driver" variant adds more randomness and interaction: visible cards can be played by both players, making each decision more tense.
The game also features a solo mode, designed by Kevin Ellenburg and Mike Mullins, in which you face an AI explorer who makes strategic decisions each turn, simulating a true opponent.
Death Valley is part of the Micro Games collection developed by Matagot, from the catalog of American publisher Button Shy. This range brings together pocket-sized games with refined mechanics, short playtimes, and high replayability, including solo, duo, cooperative, or competitive formats.
