How to play Diamant?
Game Setup
Setup is simple:
- Each player receives an explorer pawn and a personal chest.
- The "cave" cards (treasures and dangers) are shuffled to form a draw pile.
- All players start together at the entrance of the cave.
The game is played in several rounds, representing different expeditions.
Gameplay outline
Each round:
- A card is revealed, indicating either diamonds or a hazard.
- Players collect the diamonds on the path.
- Each player simultaneously decides whether to:Continue exploring
Leave the caveto secure their gains
But beware:
- If the same hazard appears twice, all players still in the cave lose their diamonds for the round.
- Players who leave can collect any diamonds left on the path.
This "push your luck" system creates constant tension, where you have to read the game... and the other players.
Win/Loss Condition
After several expeditions:
- Players add up the diamonds secured in their vault
- Diamonds lost during the round do not count
The player with the most diamondswins the game.
Our Tips for Winning
-
Knowing when to stop
This is the core of the game. Many players lose by being too greedy. Learn to secure your winnings regularly, especially when several dangers have already appeared. A cautious but consistent strategy is often more effective than excessive risk-taking.
-
Observe other players' decisions
Diamant is also a psychological game. If several players leave the cave, it could be a sign of danger… or an opportunity to collect more diamonds. Reading your opponents' intentions is essential for adjusting your own strategy.
-
Capitalize on opposing departures
When other players leave the cave, they often leave diamonds behind. Being the last one out can be extremely profitable... provided you don't get trapped just before.
FAQ – All About Diamant
Why is Diamant considered a strategic atmosphere game?
The game perfectly combines simple rules with real decision-making. Each turn is based on a strategic choice: continue or stop. But since decisions are influenced by other players, this creates strong interaction and a dynamic atmosphere.
Is the game purely based on luck?
No. Even though drawing cards introduces an element of chance, victory primarily depends on your ability to manage risk and anticipate probabilities. The best players know when to fold at the right time.
Is Diamant suitable for beginner players?
Yes, it's very accessible. The rules can be explained in minutes, and everyone plays at the same time. It's an excellent game for introducing new players while remaining interesting for more experienced ones.
Why are the parties so tense?
The tension comes from the "push your luck" system and the fact that all players make decisions simultaneously. With each card revealed, the suspense builds and choices become increasingly difficult.
