| 3 to 5 players | 20 min | Ages 10+ |
Discover Emblems, a clever, fast-paced, and eventful card game. Immerse yourself in a medieval world where the king has died without an heir.
Each player embodies a noble family seeking influence over three key locations: the Castle, the Village, and the Port. Through card choices, subtle bluffs, and direct confrontations, this game tests your nerves and strategy.
In about 20 minutes, for 3 to 5 players aged 10 and up, Emblems promises dynamic and surprising games.

How to play Emblem?
Game Setup
- Each player chooses a family (a color) and takes the corresponding deck (15 Character cards).
- Shuffle your deck, then draw 6 cards into your hand.
- Place the three visible influence locations on the table: the Castle, the Village, and the Port.
- Each player receives an initial number of gold coins (often 3) and the first player is designated.
Gameplay outline
- At the start of each round, each player chooses a card from their hand, considering its value and effect, then places it face down in front of them.
- Then, players take turns revealing their card and placing it in one of the three locations (Castle, Village, or Port).
- Cards must be placed in each location in descendingorder of value. This means that a weaker card cannot be placed if a higher value card is already there.
- Some cards have special effects—these effects can be triggered immediately or at the end of the round.
- Once each player has played all the designated rounds (the number depends on the number of players), the final gold coin count is performed.
- Here’s how: for each location of influence, the player who placed the highest value card receives a certain number of coins depending on the area.
Win/Loss Condition
The game ends when the final scoring phase is complete. The player with the most gold coins wins the game. Conversely, accumulating few coins or suffering adverse effects can make you lose the race to the throne
Our Tips for Winning
-
Invest smartly in key locations
Right from the start, identify which location (Castle, Village, or Port) might be the most contested. If you anticipate a lot of opposition for one location, choose instead to establish yourself in a less sought-after one: this can yield almost as much while attracting less attention.
-
Manage your hand of cards with patience
Don't always play your strongest card as soon as possible: keeping a trump card for a final round can turn the tide. Balancing the early and late game gives you a clear advantage.
-
Surprise your opponents with bluff and effects
Some cards trigger surprising effects: use them not only to maximize your gains, but also to disrupt your opponents' strategies. Bluffing and surprise can be just as decisive as pure strength.
All about Emblèmes
Is there too much left to chance?
Chance is contained: you choose your cards, but the draw order and the influence of opponents come into play. The balance leans towards strategy and reading your opponents.
What is the role of card effects in the game?
Card effects add a layer of surprise: some activate immediately, others at the end of the round, and they can modify winnings, move cards, or disrupt opponents. Used well, they can tip the scales
Are the Emblems parties long?
No, each game lasts about 20 minutes, making it a great game for quick sessions or as an introduction to strategy games
Is this game suitable for a family or an experienced audience?
Yes to both: the rules are accessible (from 10 years old), but the strategic depth also allows experienced players to fully enjoy themselves.
