Epic Melee is a fast-paced and unpredictable card battle game for 3 to 6 players, by Sorry We Are French. In Edera's enchanted arena, each player sends their champions into battle to win the most coveted spoils. In just 20 minutes, bluffing, reading opponents, and tempo control combine in a tense melee where every decision can turn everything upside down.
How to play Epic Melee?
Game Setup
- Distribuez à chaque joueur une main de cartes Champion et une aide de jeu recto-verso.
- Placez les butins (Or et Argent) au centre de la table.
- Remettez le pion Flambeau (pion Initiative) au joueur désigné pour commencer.
- La partie se joue en 6 manches de combat.
Gameplay outline
Each round consists of 5 steps:
- Double Choice: All players simultaneously choose 2 cards from their hand and place them face down in front of them.
- Partial Reveal: Simultaneously, each player's rightmost card is turned face up.
- Commitment: The player holding the Torch chooses which of their two cards to keep in the combat. If it's the hidden card, they reveal it and take the other card back into their hand.
- Torch Transmission: The active player passes the Torch to the player of their choice, who must in turn commit a card. The tension thus spreads around the table.
- Resolution: Once all players have committed, the combat is resolved. The two best Championswin the Gold and Silver spoils.
Win/Loss Condition
After 6 rounds, the player with the most valuable lootwins. A single point difference can be enough to change everything.

Play the hidden card to create doubt
The strength of the game lies in the face-down card. Don't reveal it too early and cultivate uncertainty. An opponent who doesn't know what you're hiding will hesitate to pass you the Torch at the wrong time.

Master the Flambeau as a political weapon
Passing the Torch means choosing who gets pressured next. Avoid passing it to a player in a strong position and instead target those whose committed card you can predict, allowing you to better anticipate the combat resolution.

Manage your hand over multiple rounds
Don't play your best cards too early. The 6 rounds form an arc: save your most powerful champions for the rounds with the highest payouts, and sacrifice the middle rounds if necessary.
