How to play Faraway?

Game Setup

  • Each player receives a hand of Region cards, which they keep secret.
  • A draw pile is formed in the center of the table with the remaining cards.
  • Several cards are revealed face up to form a common reserve.
  • Each player prepares to build a line of cards representing their exploration.

Gameplay outline

  • The game is played over 8 rounds.
  • In each round, players simultaneously choose a card from those available.
  • Each player places their card in front of them, from left to right, to build their path.
  • The remaining cards are passed to other players, creating a drafting mechanism.
  • Each card represents a region with scoring conditions to fulfill.
  • Over the rounds, players must anticipate future combinations and adapt their strategy.

Win/Loss Condition

  • Once all 8 cards have been laid, scoring begins... in reverse.
  • Cards are evaluated from right to left, which means you have to plan your entire strategy beforehand.
