Immerse yourself even deeper into the world of exploration and card games with the “Under a Starry Sky” expansion for Faraway.
This expansion introduces new region cards and, most importantly, "meteorite" cards, which spice up your games and multiply strategic opportunities. An astral atmosphere, thrilling gameplay, and thoughtful decision-making are all on the agenda to extend the adventure in a captivating way.

How to Play the Faraway Under a Starry Sky Expansion?
Game Setup
Integrate the "Under a Starry Sky" expansion into your core box. It requires the base game Faraway.
Mix the new region cards (and meteorite cards) with those from the core box (and possibly those from the first expansion).
Deal the exploration cards, sanctuary cards, etc., as usual, according to the basic rules.
Gameplay outline
The game turn consists of the same phases as in Faraway: exploration, placement, possibly sanctuary, final scoring.
With this expansion, each time a meteorite card is drawn or played, it remains face up. These cards change how certain points are scored at the end.
Additionally, region cards whose exploration time unit is identical to that of meteorite cards become visible for point counting. This introduces an additional layer of risk management.
Win/Loss Condition
As in the base game, the player who has developed their exploration zone, placed their region and sanctuary cards, and accumulated the most points at the end wins.
Thanks to the expansion, at the end of the game: all your face-up meteorite cards + your region cards whose unit of time corresponds to the last digit of the meteorite are taken into account for bonus scoring.
There is no strict "defeat" condition other than not achieving the point objectives: defeat consists of being surpassed by a better-optimized opponent.
Our Tips for Winning
-
Leverage the visibility of meteor maps
Use the fact that meteorite cards are visible to anticipate your opponents: identify their exploration time units, anticipate combinations, and adapt your regional card choices. This allows you to aim for bonuses that are invisible to others.
-
Match your exploration pace to the meteorite unit
Since region cards whose time unit corresponds to that of a meteorite are valued, deliberately choosing "slow" or "fast" cards based on what you have seen can make a difference. Don't play all your fastest cards: sometimes aiming for higher units is more profitable.
-
Diversify your biomes and Sanctuary maps
Some meteorite cards impose new scoring conditions, such as a set of 4 cards of the same biome or getting rid of a sanctuary. Anticipate these objectives and do not neglect cards that do not immediately score points but allow for combinations for a big bonus.

What exactly does the extension contain?
The expansion introduces new region cards, including 15 meteorite cards, as well as new end-game scoring conditions.
How do I integrate it with the first extension if I already have it?
Simply shuffle the cards from this expansion with those from the first expansion (and the base game). This creates a greater variety of cards and adds depth to strategic choices.
Is it suitable for all types of players?
Yes, both for players familiar with Faraway who want to renew their games, and for more strategic players who like to anticipate and plan. The expansion adds a strategic layer without making the game inaccessible.
How many players and what is the recommended age?
The expansion follows the indications of the base game: it is designed for 2 to 6 players and for ages 10 and up.
