How to play Flamme Rouge BMX?

Game Setup

Players build the track by assembling several track tiles, each offering unique features (turns, gravel, ramps, etc.). Each player chooses a BMX rider, collects their bag of speed tokens, and prepares their equipment. The course can be adjusted to vary the gameplay experience and adapt the difficulty.

Gameplay outline

In each round, all players draw several tokens from their bag, select one (or two depending on the track), and reveal their choice simultaneously. Then, the drivers advance the indicated number of spaces, following the race order.

Positioning is crucial: overtaking opponents, avoiding blockages in narrow areas, and taking advantage of circuit sections require good anticipation. Elements like ramps or gravel alter the race pace, while a die can help those lagging behind catch up.

Win/Loss Condition

As in any race, the goal is simple: be the first to cross the finish line. If multiple players finish in the same lap, the one who has covered the greatest distance wins.

  • Intelligently manage your speed tokens

In Flamme Rouge BMX, your tokens represent your acceleration potential. Using your high values too early can lead to penalties or running out of breath at the end of the race. Conversely, saving resources for the final sprint often allows you to surprise your opponents. Finding the right balance between attack and management is essential to optimize your race strategy.

  • Benefit from the slipstream and positioning

Staying behind an opponent can be advantageous, especially to avoid certain penalties associated with solo effort. Track positioning then becomes a key element: following the right player at the right time allows you to save your resources while staying in the race. A good reading of the peloton can make all the difference over the duration of the game.

  • Anticipate the specifics of the circuit

Each track brings its constraints: gravel, narrowings, descents or ramps. These elements directly influence your token choices and your speed. Studying the course at the beginning of the game allows you to adapt your strategy and avoid costly mistakes, such as playing a value too high in a blocked area.
