How to play Galèrapagos?
Game Setup
Place the island board and arrange the "Water," "Food," and "Wood" markers according to the number of players.
Shuffle and prepare the "Weather" deck. Remove certain cards according to the number of players.
Prepare the bag containing the "fish" balls (and possibly other tokens depending on the edition) that will be used for fishing.
Deal "Wreckage" cards to players according to the number of participants.
Determine the first player (or give them the "First Player" token) and start the game.
Gameplay outline
Each turn, you must choose one of four actions: fish, collect rainwater, look for wood for the raft, or search the wreck for useful items. The social aspect is as intense as in Room 25 Ultimate, as each individual action is supposed to serve the group... in theory. At the end of each round, if water or food supplies are insufficient, a vote takes place to eliminate a player.
Win/Loss Condition
All surviving players win if they manage to launch a raft with enough space and rations before the "Hurricane" card is revealed. If the raft isn't ready or you starve, it's a loss. It's a pure survival game, often compared to Not Alonefor its constant tension.

Keep your ruin cards a secret
The cards you find in the shipwreck (revolver, canteen, hidden food) are your best allies for surviving votes. Only reveal them if strictly necessary for your immediate survival. Bluff management is a skill you'll also find in our trickiest strategy games.

Be essential to the group
To avoid being the target of votes during shortages, show your usefulness. Regularly bring back wood or water. A player who does not participate in common tasks quickly becomes the first sacrificed, a group dynamic similar to that of Codenames Duet.

Watch the weather deck
The hurricane can arrive at any time toward the end of the weather card deck. Don't delay too long in finalizing the raft. If you feel time is running out, it's sometimes wiser to sacrifice a companion to save rations, a difficult but necessary decision for collective (or personal) victory.

Should you fish on the first turn to gain an advantage?
Not necessarily: fishing is risky if you don't already have enough vital resources. In the first round, focusing on water or wood may be wiser, as running out of water immediately triggers a community shortage.
Can you play Galèrapagos with children?
The game is suitable for ages 10 and up. It's an excellent way to practice negotiation and group management, which often earns it a spot on our lists of the best board games for kids aged 8 and up.
How many players can participate?
One of the great strengths of Galèrapagos is that it can accommodate up to 12 players! It's the perfect party game for large groups, much more interactive than a simple game of Skyjo.
What happens in the event of a tie in a vote?
In case of a tie, the player with the "First Player" token (the camp leader) breaks the tie. This role rotates, so choose your allies carefully before the axe falls!
