Enter an immersive and oppressive experience with Hantise, a cooperative atmosphere game where you embody psychics called to exorcise a haunted place... before succumbing to it yourself.
Alone or almost alone, lit by the faint glow of your phone, you have 7 ceremonies to free the place from the spirit that inhabits it. Suspense, tension, and cooperation are on the agenda.

How to Play Haunted?
Game Setup
- Designate one player as the "Master of Ceremonies (MC)"; the others will be the mediums.
- Set up the Ritual board, arrange the Divination cards and Candle tokens (as many as the number of mediums + 1) on the ceremony table.
- Determine the playing area (indoor/outdoor): the rooms or areas of the location will become the "haunted zones." Turn off the lights; only phone light is allowed for atmosphere.
Gameplay outline
- The game is played in 7 rounds (ceremonies).
- Each round:
- The MC alternately deals "Savior" and "Possessed" cards to the mediums, without revealing them.
- The possessed mediums settle into their zones and silently carry out instructions or remain still in the dark.
- Saviors explore the zones separately, alone, to free the possessed by successfully completing missions. If they fail, the savior themselves becomes blocked or possessed.
- After the expedition, everyone returns to the ceremonial table, and the MC validates the candle tokens, whether they have progressed or not.
Win/Loss Condition
Victory: if the mediums manage to remove all candle tokens before the end of the 7th turn and reveal the final Divination card.
Defeat: if no savior returns to the table on a given turn or if the 7th turn ends without achieving the objective.
Our Tips for Winning
-
Choose a good location and create the atmosphere
Ambience is key: a little darkness, distinct zones, a confident Game Master, and immersive decor make the game memorable.
-
Communicate but maintain the tension
Rescuers must communicate without being too explicit – every piece of information can also reveal your role. Maintain a good balance between cooperation and suspicion.
-
Manage time and zones efficiently
With only 7 turns to succeed, don't waste time. Plan who will explore which area and when to intervene to free a possessed person. Don't leave any area unsupervised.
All About Haunted
Can the game be played outdoors?
Yes, Hantise
Does chance play a big role in the game?
Chance is reduced: it is choices, each person's role (savior or possessed), and location that will make the difference. The atmosphere and interactions are the true drivers of the game.
Is it suitable for a group of friends who are easily scared or don't like being in the dark?
If you are sensitive to darkness or a "thrilling" atmosphere, this game can be intense. We recommend it more for those who enjoy immersion and a bit of a thrill.
Do you need a large space to play?
Not necessarily! An apartment is sufficient, as long as there are several rooms or nooks to create distinct zones. Outdoors, a few meters' distance between players is enough to maintain the mystery.
