How to play Heat: Heavy Rain?

Game Setup

  • Place the large double-sided board for the two new tracks (Japan / Mexico).
  • Add the new race car and gear shift lever included in the box.
  • Combine the new cards (Heat, Stress, Events, Sponsor, "Air Intake" Upgrade) with those from the base game.
  • If you are playing in championship mode, integrate the new "Heavy Rain" events.

Gameplay outline

  • The expansion plays like the base game: players choose their speed, play cards, manage "Heat", and move their race car.
  • With Heavy Rain, some sections of the tracks (especially in Japan) are flooded: downshifting costs more heat.
  • “Air Intake” cards allow you to cool your engine more efficiently by recycling Heat cards.
  • New event cards impact the race (extreme weather, penalties, opportunities), and a 7th driver can now join the game.

Win/Loss Condition

  • The victory conditions remain the same as in Heat: the first player to cross the finish line on the track wins the race.
  • In Championship mode, new events influence the overall ranking.
    Poor management of overheating can penalize you: if you don't use the "air intake" well or neglect cooling, your efficiency can suffer greatly.
