In Vino Morte is an ultra-fast bluffing and deduction game where you must decide: drink your glass... or try to swap it with another player. With each turn, the suspense builds, paranoia sets in — and the last "alive" person wins.

How to play In Vino Morte?

Game Setup

  • The game requires only 16 cards: 8 "Wine" and 8 "Poison."
  • Designate one player as the "dealer." The dealer dealsone card face downto each player, including themselves.

Gameplay outline

  • Each player, in turn (clockwise from the player to the dealer's left), must choose betweendrinkingtheir glass orswappingtheir face-down card with another player who has not yet revealed theirs.
  • If you choose to drink and reveal a "Wine" card, you survive this round; if it's "Poison," you are eliminated immediately.
  • If you swap, you keep the received card face down — the suspense continues.
  • Once all players (except possibly the dealer) have had their turn, those who have not yet drunk drink simultaneously, revealing their fate.
  • Surviving players proceed to the next round — a new dealer is designated (the first survivor to the left of the previous one). This continues until only one player remains.

Win/Loss Condition

The last player alive wins the game.

    In a game of bluff, other players' attitudes can be telling — the one who hesitates, the one who speaks too quickly, the one who looks at you strangely… choose your interactions carefully.

  • Use the exchange to sow doubt

    If you suspect your hand is bad, exchanging can weigh on others' morale—a good bluff can be enough to push a confident player to drink, etc.

  • When you are a donor, it's about carefully balancing wine and poison.

    As the dealer, the distribution of cards greatly influences the pace and intensity of the game — a balanced mix (some wines + some poisons) keeps the suspense going until the end.
