How to play Incantibus?

Game Setup

  • Open the magical book-box – it unfolds to form the game board representing the tower to explore. Each player chooses a "magic satchel" board and a magic wand.
  • Place the "room" tiles and visible tokens in the tower – potions, spellbooks, spell cards, special items, wizards, etc.

Gameplay outline

  • In each round, all players brandish their wands and, at the signal, simultaneously point to a token in the tower they wish to retrieve.
  • If only one player points to a token, they retrieve it. If several players target the same token, the most powerful wand wins —butthe winner mustexchange their wandwith the loser, thus altering the balance of power for subsequent rounds.
  • Retrieved tokens are stored in your magical pouch. Certain combinations (potions, spellbooks, special items) are necessary to prepare for the final confrontation against the wizards hidden in the tower.
  • Once exploration is complete or tokens are exhausted according to the rules, players compare their resources and confront the wizards with the help of their artifacts: the player with the best magical equipment wins the game.

Win/Loss Condition

  • The objective is to become the most powerful wizard—the one who has collected the best items, potions, and spellbooks, and then survived the final confrontation with the tower wizards.
  • The game is for 2 to 4 players, ages 8 and up, and a game lasts approximately 30 minutes.
  • Quickly identify the most strategic objects

From the outset, target tokens that provide potions or spellbooks—these resources are often essential for the final confrontation. Don't waste time on secondary items if other players have shown interest in powerful artifacts.

  • Playing the bluff when choosing your baguette

When several players are vying for the same item, choosing the right wand (and anticipating opponents' choices) can give you the advantage – but be careful: winning means giving up your wand. So use the exchange to your advantage by observing others.

  • Adapt your strategy based on token availability

If powerful tokens (spells, potions) are starting to become scarce, it may be more sensible to aim for useful but less contested items — this reduces competition and ensures you have regular resources.
