Insider is a party game combining quiz, social deduction, and hidden roles. In this minimalist game from Oink Games, players must find a secret word while unmasking a traitor among them (the Insider) who already knows the answer and tries to manipulate the conversation. The atmosphere is both collaborative and deceptive, ideal for evenings with friends or family, with short and dynamic games.

How to play the game Insider?
Game Setup
- Distribute one role card to each player: a Game Master, an Insider(the traitor), and the rest are Citizens.
- The Game Master draws a theme card (theme + secret word) without showing it to the others.
- The Insider secretly learns the chosen word, but the other players do not.
- Place the hourglass: players will have about 5 minutes to ask questions.
Gameplay outline
- Players (except the Master) ask closed questions(yes / no / I don't know) to the Master to try and guess the secret word.
- The Master answers accordingly and concisely.
- During this time, the Insider subtly guides the questions or answers to lead the group towards the word without revealing themselves.
- If the word is guessed within the time limit, the game moves to the accusation phase. If the word is not found, everyone loses.
Win/Loss Condition
- Victory for the Group(Citizens + Master): the word is correctly guessed ANDthe Insider is identified at the end of the debate.
- Victory for the Insider: if the players do not guess the word, orif they guess the word but fail to identify the Insider during the vote.
Our Tips for Winning
-
Ask targeted questions
Ask precise yet progressive questions, to explore leads without giving the Insider too many angles. You can start with broad questions (general categories) then refine them based on the answers.
-
Observe the behavior of other players
Monitor other players' reactions: tones of voice, hesitations, reformulations. The Insider may try to slip in suggestions, but their interventions are often more subtle. Use these clues.
-
Influencing as an Insider
If you are the Insider: tactfully guide the questions without being too direct. Help steer towards the word without being too obvious, and prepare credible arguments for the final voting phase. Your goal: to be helpful, but not too helpful.
