With Ipso, gradually build a pyramid of cards to create the best possible sequences. This fast and clever card game is based on a simple principle: intelligently replace the cards in your pyramid to form lines of increasing value and maximize your score. Accessible from the very first games but full of small tactical choices, Ipso blends observation, risk-taking, and optimization in a very dynamic family-friendly format.
How to play Ipso?
Game Setup
Each player receives cards which they arrange face down in front of them to form a pyramid. The remaining cards form the draw pile, and two cards are revealed in the center of the table. Each pyramid also contains a special Star card.
Gameplay outline
- On their turn, a player chooses one of the two visible cards in the center of the table. They use it to replace a face-down card in their pyramid. The removed card is then placed face-up in the center, in place of the one just taken.
- Gradually, the pyramids are revealed, and players try to build lines of strictly increasing numbers. Colors also play an important role, as single-color lines score more points.
- Players must constantly hesitate between immediately improving their pyramid or preparing more profitable future combinations. Managing stars also becomes strategic, as they allow players to earn significant bonuses at the end of the game.
- When all pyramid cards are revealed, each player can either keep their Star card to score bonus points or discard it to draw a final card and try to improve their pyramid.
Win/Loss Condition
Players score points based on their increasing runs. Multicolored runs award one point per card, while runs of the same color award more. Stars add additional bonuses. The player with the highest score wins the game.
