Raptor Race is a family strategy game that revitalizes the racing game genre. Here, your goal is not to get the fastest raptor across the finish line, but to score the most points thanks to your secret Top 3. Each player knows the three dinosaurs they want to see finish first, while everyone moves the same raptors on the board. Between dice rolls, risk-taking, and constant adaptation, each round is full of twists and turns.

How to play Raptor Race?

Game Setup

The board is placed in the center of the table. Two sides are available:

  • Desert, ideal for learning the rules;
  • Jungle, which adds obstacles and more technical movements.

The five raptors are placed randomly on the starting line. Each player then receives a Top 3 card, which they keep secret. This card indicates the three raptors that will earn them points at the end of the race.

Gameplay outline

  • In turn, a player rolls the movement dice.
  • They can re-roll some of the dice up to four times to get the most advantageous combination. The colored footprints allow the corresponding raptor to advance, while the T-Rexface makes the player's chosen dinosaur retreat to slow down opponents.
  • On the Desert board, raptors simply advance in their lane. On the Jungle board, the presence of obstacles and the Arrow die allows for diagonal movements, adding a true tactical dimension.
  • Throughout the race, players must constantly adapt. Should you advance a raptor on your secret card, slow down an opponent, or use a Booster space to accelerate another dinosaur? Since all players move the same raptors, each decision influences the plans of everyone at the table.

Win/Loss Condition

  • The game ends as soon as the first raptor crosses the finish line.
  • Players then reveal their Top 3card and score points based on the final position of the three indicated raptors. If your three dinosaurs are among the top three, you get an additional bonus.
  • The player with the most points wins the game.
  • Don't put all your eggs in one basket

Your victory depends on three dinosaurs. Try to advance them in a balanced way.

  • Use the T-Rex at the right time

Knocking back a raptor just before the finish line can completely change the final standings.

  • Enjoy the boosters

Special squares allow you to gain valuable positions. Anticipate their use to optimize your moves.

FAQ – Everything you need to know about Raptor Race

What is the goal of Raptor Race?

Score the most points with the three raptors indicated on your secret card when the first dinosaur crosses the finish line.

Why isn't it necessary to come in first?

The winner is determined by the points scored with their secret Top 3. A victorious raptor is therefore not always enough to win the game.

What is the difference between the two trays?

The Desertboard offers a simple straight race, ideal for beginners. The Jungleboard adds obstacles, diagonal moves, and more tactical choices.

Why choose Raptor Race?

Because it reinvents the racing game with a particularly clever secret objective system. Players all move the same dinosaurs, but pursue different objectives, creating suspenseful games where victory remains uncertain until the finish line is crossed.
