Kronologic – Babylon 2500 is the third and final installment in the Kronologic trilogy, created by Fabien Gridel and Yoann Levet. After Paris 1920 and Cuzco 1450, the series leaps several centuries forward, immersing investigators in a futuristic city of high-tech mysteries. The program includes: 15 new investigations, secret codes to decipher, accomplices to identify, and a mechanic of pure deduction, without chance or bluff, which severely tests logic in just 30 minutes.

How to Play Kronologic – Babylon 2500?

Game Setup

  • Choose one of the 3 Scenario envelopesand open the corresponding 5-investigation booklet.
  • Read the description of the mystery to be solved and place the 6 Location tilesand the 6 Time tilesin the center of the table.
  • Distribute a screen, a notepad, and a pencil to each player.
  • Shuffle the 30 Character cardsfor the scenario and form the common draw pile.
  • Each player reads the initial information provided in the booklet.

Gameplay outline

  • In your turn, you question a characterby cross-referencing their card with a Location tile or a Time tile.
  • This cross-referencing reveals two types of information:
A private piece of information, which you alone note behind your screen.
A public piece of information, which you must announce aloud to all players.
  • In Babylon 2500, the key novelty is that characters – and not locations – now provide clues, in the form of symbols observed during their journey. A symbol is part of the secret code if it is seen by exactly 4 Babylonians at the same time.
  • Cross-reference, note, eliminate, and methodically reconstruct the movement mapof each suspect across the city.

Win/Loss Condition

The first player to announce the complete solution to the investigation— culprit, location, time, or secret code depending on the scenario — wins the game. If the solution is incorrect, the player is eliminated and the game continues without them.

  • Choose your questions carefully so as not to help your opponents too much

The whole subtlety of Kronologic lies in this dilemma:the public answer you give also benefits your rivals. Ask questions whose public answer seems of little use to others, but whose private answer precisely fills a gap in your deduction.

  • Build your deduction grid from the first turn

Don't jot down your clues haphazardly. From the start of the game, draw a Characters × Time × Locations gridon your sheet and fill it in systematically with every piece of information obtained. Cascade eliminations come from a well-maintained grid.

  • Listen carefully to public information from other players

Your opponents freely offer you clues every turn.An attentive earoften allows you to advance as much as your own questioning, without spending your turn on information already available.

FAQ – All about Kronologic – Babylon 2500

Do I need to have played the previous games to enjoy Babylon 2500?

No. Each box in the range is completely standalone. Babylon 2500 even introduces a new mechanic—symbols and characters as sources of clues—which sufficiently differentiates it from Paris 1920 and Cuzco 1450 to be played independently.

Are the 15 investigations truly replayable?

Yes. Each scenario is designed to be replayable up to 5 timeswith different players, thanks to the variety of public information generated according to the order of the questions. However, if you have already solved an investigation, you know the solution: replayability is primarily intended to vary groups of players.

Is Babylon 2500 more difficult than previous installments?

Yes, clearly. The new symbols observed on the pathsmechanic adds another layer of complexity compared to Paris 1920. The scenarios are also calibrated to varying difficulty levels, with more demanding investigations at the end of the booklet.

Does the game play well solo?

Very good. The solo modeis among the most satisfying of its kind: with no opponents to manage, you focus on your own deduction and optimize your number of questions to beat your own record. It's an excellent exercise in pure logic.
