How to play The Hill With Will-o'-the-Wisps?

Game Setup

Place the hill board in the center of the table. Arrange the game elements—will-o'-the-wisps, stands, and obstacles—according to the indicated starting setup.

Each player chooses a color or a marker to keep track of their successes. Make sure all participants understand the basic rules and objectives before starting.

Gameplay outline

In turn, each player attempts to place or move their will-o’-the-wisps while respecting the rules of balance and stability. The objective is to maintain the balance of the pieces without causing them to fall, while maximizing points based on the areas reached or challenges completed. Each move requires precision, anticipation, and a good dose of concentration to take advantage of the terrain and the game's physical constraints.

Win/Loss Condition

The game ends when all the wisps have been placed or when a player can no longer make a legal move without knocking over pieces. The player with the most points from successful placements wins the game. A fall or imbalance can be costly, but each mistake is also an opportunity to adapt your strategy when play resumes.

  • Master the balance of wisps

Each piece has its own center of gravity: observe the structure carefully before placing or moving a will-o'-the-wisp to avoid a premature fall.

  • Anticipate the ripple effects

A movement can lead to successive impacts. Take the time to visualize the potential consequences before each action.

  • Utilize the board's resources

Some areas or elements provide more stable support than others. Use these to your advantage to secure your placements and accumulate points.
