The Fate of the Community

Set up the main board representing the lands traversed by the Fellowship, as well as the play areas for Encounters, the progress of the One Ring, and the threat tracks. Each player chooses a hero character (e.g.: Frodo, Gandalf, Aragorn…) with their personal sheet, stats, and unique skills. Shuffle the Encounter card decks and Fate Cards, which will guide the story and challenges throughout the game. Place the resource, threat, and health tokens on their respective tracks.

The game takes place in successive rounds, each round comprising several phases:

1. Event Resolution Phase— a Fate card or Encounter card is revealed, introducing obstacles, narrative choices, or increasing threats.
2. Player Actions Phase— each member of the Fellowship can perform actions such as moving, exploring, fighting enemies, using items or special skills, and collaborating with allies.
3. Threat and Progression Phase— the threat gradually intensifies, and automatic effects can test your heroes.

Coordination between players is essential to balance initiative, resource management, and combat against enemy forces.

The main objective is to fulfill the conditions of the adventure born from your scenario: this may include reaching a specific location, overcoming a major enemy, or accomplishing a quest related to the One Ring. The game ends with a collective victory if the Fellowship succeeds in its mission before the threat or corruption points reach critical levels. Otherwise, if the heroes succumb or the threat prevails, the Fellowship fails and the game results in a defeat.
