Dive into a poetic and strategically rich adventure with Fishing Lessons, an original solo card game from the Micro Games series. You play as a member of Leland Williams' family, out fishing on the lake, armed only with the valuable teachings left by the vanished mentor.
Each game challenges you to assemble these lessons in the correct order to achieve your fishing goal before the end of the day. With programming and memory mechanics, this compact game offers fast, intense, and highly replayable games where every decision counts.

How to Play Fishing Lessons?
Game Setup
To begin, set up your solo play equipment: each (single) player chooses a character, a family member with a personal fishing objective. Take out the Lesson cards, Objective cards, and Lake cards, which will form the fishing row in front of you. Shuffle and prepare your hand of cards according to the basic rules of the Micro Game.
Gameplay outline
The game unfolds in a series of turns, each representing a moment in your fishing day:
- In each turn, you recall a new lesson passed down by Leland and add it to your list of actions to be performed in order.
- Lessons are used to move your boat along the row of Lake cards or to flip Lake cards to reveal or hide the fish you need.
- Each lesson is a step in a mini-program that you gradually build to achieve your goal.
Win/Loss Condition
To win, you must achieve your fishing goal (a certain type or number of fish) at the right time, depending on the chosen difficulty level. If you manage to gather the required fish before your progress runs out or before exhausting your lessons, you win a memorable day at the lake. If you fail, the game ends in defeat
Our Tips for Winning
-
Plan your lessons carefully
Each lesson should be thought of not as an isolated action, but as a link in a logical chain: anticipate the consequences of each addition to your sequence to avoid getting stuck.
-
Master managing your row Lake
Look closely at the current layout of the lake cards: some fish cards are visible, others are not. Flipping and moving at the right time maximizes your chances of reaching the objective.
-
Adapt your strategy according to the objective
Each character has a different personal objective. Familiarize yourself with your objective from the outset to guide your lesson choices toward the fish that truly matter.
FAQ – All about Fishing Lessons
What makes Fishing Lessons different from other Microgames?
Fishing Lessons combines action programming mechanics with strategic memory around a relaxing and original theme: a solo fishing day guided by memories and teachings.
How do the difficulty levels work?
Depending on the chosen level, the fishing objective may change in size or requirement, influencing the complexity of the lessons you will need to assemble to succeed.
Are the lessons drawn randomly?
Yes, Lesson cards are drawn during the game, which introduces an element of uncertainty and encourages you to optimize your action list each turn.
Does it have good replay value?
Absolutely: multiple characters with different goals and varying Lake card setups ensure high replayability despite the compact format.
