How to play Ticket to Ride Europe?
Game Setup
Place the European railway network board in the center of the table. Each player chooses a color and receives 45 wagons, 3 matching stations, and a scoring marker. Shuffle the Wagon cards and Destination cards, then deal a set to each player according to the basic rule. Then, place 5 visible Wagon cards next to the board for drawing.
Gameplay outline
Players take turns performing a single action each turn:
- Draw Train Car cards: Take two cards from those visible or from the deck to prepare for future constructions.
- Draw new Destination Tickets: Add more objectives to complete if you think you can connect them on the board.
- Claim a Route: Discard Train Car cards of the correct color to place your train cars on a railway track, a tunnel, or a ferry connection between two cities.
- Build a Station: Place a station to use an opponent's route and complete your objectives.
Each claimed connection becomes permanently controlled by the player who placed their train cars on it, altering the strategic landscape for other participants.
Win/Loss Condition
The game ends when a player places their penultimate train car or when a certain score threshold is reached. Then, each player counts their points:
- Points for each route built (longer = more points).
- Points for each completed Destination (connection between two cities).
- Bonus points for the longest railway.
The player with the highest total score wins the game and becomes the greatest European railway baron.
