How to play Ticket to Ride: Iberia & South Korea?
Game Setup
- Choose one of the two maps included in the expansion, then set up the corresponding board.
- Prepare the Train Car cards, Destination Tickets, and elements specific to the selected map.
- Each player receives their trains and starting cards.
Gameplay outline
- As in other Ticket to Ride games, players collect Train Car cards to build railway lines between different cities on the board. Each constructed route earns points and helps players achieve Destination objectives.
- The Iberia map focuses on festivals and tourism. Players can earn extra bonuses by connecting certain regions and developing strategic connections across Spain and Portugal. Ferries and long routes become particularly important.
- The South Korea map introduces a unique province system. Players earn additional points based on their influence in different regions of the country. Therefore, it is essential to carefully monitor the lines built by opponents to optimize one's territorial presence.
- Games require good card management, efficient route planning, and the ability to block important lines before other players.
Win/Loss Condition
The game ends when a player is almost out of trains. Players then count points obtained from routes built, objectives completed, and specific bonuses from each card. The player with the highest score wins the game.
Our Tips for Winning
-
Anticipate key routes from the outset
In this Ticket to Ride expansion, some connections quickly become highly contested. Identifying important routes early on helps avoid late-game blockages.
-
Lever the unique mechanics of each card
Iberia and South Korea offer very different scoring systems. Adapting your strategy to the specific characteristics of the board is essential to maximize your points.
-
Maintaining consistent objectives
Accumulating too many distant objectives can complicate your railway network. It is often more cost-effective to build interconnected lines.
