How to play Ticket to Ride Paris?

Game Setup

Place the Paris transport network board in the center of the table. Each player chooses a color and receives their plastic buses and score marker. Shuffle the transport cards and Destination cards, then deal them to players according to the basic rule (usually a starting hand). Then place the transport cards face-up for drawing during the game.

Gameplay outline

In turn, each player performs one action from the following options:

  1. Draw transport cards to build the hand needed for construction,
  2. Discard cards to claim a route between two points on the Parisian network by placing their buses.
  3. Draw Destination cards, revealing specific connections to complete between two locations on the board.

When you claim a route of a specific color (blue, white, or red), you keep one card of that color in front of you instead of discarding all played cards. When you accumulate one card of each color, you form a French flag: you can then discard these cards to earn bonus points.

The game continues until there are only two buses or fewer left to place on the board's lines, at which point each player takes one last turn.

Win/Loss Condition

At the end, players count their points:

  • Points for claimed routes,
  • Points for completed Destination Tickets,
  • Bonus points for French flags obtained.

The player with the highest total score wins the game and becomes the greatest transport magnate of the capital!

  • Smartly collect transit cards

The more cards you have that match the colors of the desired routes, the easier it will be to claim those routes quickly before your opponents do.

  • Plan Your Destinations

Choose Destination Tickets that overlap or can be connected with the same route to maximize your points without spreading yourself too thin.

  • Think about flag bonuses

Don't neglect the special mechanics of the French flags: accumulating the right colors at the right time can offer decisive bonus points.
