How to play The Wandering Towers?
Game Setup
To begin a game of Wandering Towers, each player chooses a color and takes their wizards and associated cards. Then arrange the game board in a circle with the nine towers positioned around the central dungeon. Place your wizards on the starting spaces and keep the movement cards within reach.
Gameplay outline
In turn, each player plays two cards from their hand. Each card allows them to either move one of their wizards or move a tower. By moving a tower onto opposing wizards, you can cover them and thus "trap" them, which allows you to fill potion vials essential for your progress. The trick is to maneuver the towers to optimize your moves, hinder your opponents, and capture valuable vials.
Win/Loss Condition
The game ends when a player has successfully brought all their wizards to the Raven Castle and filled their potion vials. The first player to meet both of these conditions wins the game, demonstrating strategy, anticipation, and mental agility.
Our Tips for Winning
-
Mastering the memory of moved pieces
Keep a mental track of the towers’ locations between your turns. Since they often change positions, knowing where your wizards are even when they are hidden is essential for planning your future moves.
-
Anticipate adverse movements
Observe your opponents' intentions. By anticipating their moves, you can block their paths or force them to take a less advantageous route, all while advancing towards your goal.
-
Balancing wizards and towers
Don't just focus on advancing your wizards. Moving towers at the right time can create favorable situations to capture opposing wizards or protect your own.
