Level 10 is a cooperative card game from the Pixel Series that pays homage to retro video games with a simple goal... or so it seems: help Izy, a small pixelated hero, complete all his levels before getting stuck. Behind its retro gaming-inspired aesthetic lies a true coordination challenge where limited communication, hand management, and collective planning become essential. Easy to learn but surprisingly demanding to master, Level 10 offers sensations similar to major cooperative card games while adding an original progression inspired by video game levels.

How to play Level 10?

Game Setup

  • Set up the cards representing the different worlds of the game, then deal the cards to the players.
  • The progression board is composed of five distinct worlds, each associated with a color. Together, you must help Izy progress through the levels by playing all the cards in the correct order. The difficulty can be adjusted using certain optional cards to ease the challenge.

Gameplay outline

  • In turn, each player places a card in one of the five worlds.
  • Cards must be in ascending order within their respective world. But be careful: hands remain secret and it is forbidden to directly communicate which cards you hold. You can only exchange partial information about your intentions or possibilities.
  • The great originality of Level 10 lies in its system of world resets.
  • At certain critical moments, the team can use a Reset card to reset a world and find new possibilities. However, each world can only be reset a limited number of times. When a reset occurs, some cards can be placed back under the deck to optimize the end of the game.
  • As the turns progress, the tension builds: should you keep moving forward or trigger a reset before getting permanently stuck?

Win/Loss Condition

  • The team wins the game if they manage to place all the World cards and allow Izy to complete her adventure.
  • If no player can make a legal move or the reset options are exhausted, the game is lost.
  • Think of resets as a strategic resource

Using them too early or too late can jeopardize the entire game.

  • Communicate your needs rather than your cards

    The game rewards indirect coordination.

  • Keep your options open in multiple worlds

Focusing too quickly on a single color limits your options.
