How to Play Ligretto

Game Setup

Each player receives a deck of cards of the same color.

  • 10 cards are placed face up in front of the player to form the Ligretto stack.
  • Several cards are placed face up next to it to form the row.
  • The remaining cards form a personal draw pile, held in hand.

All cards are numbered and differentiated by color, allowing for quick reading during the game.

Gameplay outline

As soon as the starting signal is given, all players play simultaneously. The goal is to play cards in the center of the table to form ascending sequences by color, starting with the number 1.

Players can play cards from their rows, their hand, or their Ligretto pile as soon as an opportunity arises. Speed is essential: the slightest hesitation can allow an opponent to play instead of you. When no more cards can be played, players replenish their hands to unlock new possibilities.

Win/Loss Condition

A round ends as soon as a player manages to completely empty their Ligretto pile. Points are then counted according to the cards played and those remaining in the personal pile. The game is usually played in several rounds, and the player with the most points wins the game.
