Little Secret is a party game based on bluffing, word association, and deduction, where no one truly knows their side at the start of the game.

Between disciples, infiltrators, and the journalist, each player will have to use the right words to blend in without arousing suspicion. Quick to explain and incredibly effective around a table, this award-winning game turns every evening into a true exercise in manipulation and psychology.

How do you play Little Secret?

Game Setup

  • Each player receives a Mission card containing several passwords as well as a secret role. One player takes on the role of the Grand Masterand chooses a number corresponding to the password used for the round.
  • Depending on the number of participants, different roles come into play: the Disciples have the correct password, the Infiltrators receive a slightly different word, and the Journalist, present in some games, knows no words and must guess it.

Gameplay outline

  • In turn, each participant gives a clue consisting of a word or adjective related to their password. The objective is simple: help your allies while avoiding revealing too much information.
  • Once all clues have been revealed, players debate and try to identify who seems to have a different word. Power cards regularly disrupt everyone's plans by changing the rules or players' abilities.
  • Bluffing and observation are essential: sometimes, the real infiltrator is hiding where no one expects them.

Win/Loss Condition

  • The Disciples win the round if they correctly identify the Infiltrators. The Infiltrators win if they manage to sow enough doubt to avoid being unmasked.
  • The Journalist has their own victory condition: they must identify the main password without being eliminated. This asymmetry makes each game particularly unpredictable.
  • Choose sufficiently subtle clues

An obvious clue exposes you immediately, while a vague clue risks misleading your own allies. Finding the right balance is often the key to victory.

  • Watch out for other players' hesitations

Players who take too long to find their words or give unusual clues are sometimes hiding a special role. Take the time to analyze their behavior before voting.

  • Intelligently leverage your secret role

Each role has its own objectives. An effective infiltrator doesn't always try to lie; they can also redirect suspicion to another player to create confusion.

FAQ – All about Little Secret

Why is Little Secret so popular at parties?

The game relies on mechanics that are easy to understand, while still generating memorable discussions and accusations. It works well with both seasoned board game players and casual gamers.

Do the parties end up resembling each other?

No. With over 300 words spread across multiple missions, situations are constantly evolving and offer excellent replayability.

What is the biggest mistake new players make?

Many players give away too much information too early. Little Secret rewards players who can remain ambiguous while discreetly helping their allies.

What do the Power cards do?

They introduce special effects that refresh games and allow for unexpected turnarounds, even when everything seems to be decided in advance.
