Enter the unsettling city of Arkham with Lovecraft Letter™, a horrific and twisted version of the famous deduction card game.
In Arkham Horror: Lovecraft Letter, you play as an investigator gathering clues from various leads and suspects. Stay on your guard, as some of these clues conceal unspeakable secrets, while others are protected by terrifying supernatural beings... As in the original game, you start with one card. Each turn, draw a new card and choose which of the two cards in your hand you keep and which you play, applying its effect.
In this version, some cards have a more powerful Otherworld effect. As soon as you use a card that also has an Otherworld effect, you go mad. This allows you to use the second effect of dual-powered cards, but forces you to test your sanity at the start of each turn! Draw as many cards from the draw pile as there are Otherworld cards revealed in front of you. If, by doing so, you draw an Otherworld card, you are eliminated from the round! Moreover, this tends to accelerate the end of the round, as soon as the draw pile is exhausted, the round ends.
An original and immersive version of Love Letter, in the style of the Cthulhu Mythos.

How to play Lovecraft Letter – Arkham Horror?
Game Setup
Shuffle the cards, then secretly remove some of them depending on the number of players. Each player receives one card in hand, as well as Myth tokens to track rounds won. Reference cards are distributed to remind players of the different characters' effects.
Gameplay outline
- In turn, a player draws a card and then chooses which of their two cards in hand to play. Each character has a specific effect: spying on an opponent, comparing cards, forcing a discard, or temporarily protecting their character.
- The major new feature of Lovecraft Letter comes from the Madness cards. Some powerful cards force players to perform a sanity test. If they fail, the player goes mad and can access more powerful effects… but also risks immediate elimination if they accumulate too many forbidden cards.
- Rounds are fast-paced and rely heavily on bluffing and reading opponents' intentions. Players must memorize cards already played, anticipate remaining probabilities, and decide how far to risk it with Madness cards.
Win/Loss Condition
A round ends when only one player remains in play or when the draw pile is empty. The player with the highest value card then wins the round and gains a Myth token. The game ends when a player reaches the number of tokens required for victory.
Our Tips for Winning
-
Exploiting madness at the right time
Madness cards are incredibly powerful but dangerous. Embracing a slight descent into madness can offer a decisive advantage, provided you don't take unnecessary risks.
-
Pay close attention to the cards played
As in Love Letter, memory is essential. Remembering the cards already revealed allows you to anticipate those still in play and better target your actions.
-
Bluffing even with a bad hand
In Lovecraft Letter, psychological bluffing is often as important as the cards themselves. Making opponents believe you hold a powerful card can force them to play defensively.
