How to play the Bizarre Manor game?

Game Setup

Each player starts with a foyer which will serve as the starting point for their future mansion. Room cards are shuffled and dealt to form the starting hands. Special cards, guests, and any scenario-related elements are prepared before the game begins.

Gameplay outline

A game is played over six rounds. In each round, all players simultaneously choose a card from their hand before passing the remaining cards to their neighbor using a drafting mechanic.

The selected cards represent different rooms of the manor: bedrooms, living rooms, unusual gardens, or ritual chambers. Each new room must be strategically placed, respecting the available connections such as doors, stairs, or ladders. Some cards also trigger special effects, allow you to host particular guests, or offer bonuses that influence the development of your manor.

Building a coherent structure is essential, as not all rooms will necessarily be taken into account during the final scoring.

Win/Loss Condition

At the end of the six rounds, the mansion's inauguration takes place. Only rooms accessible from the entrance hall score points. Guests, decorators, and various bonuses award positive stars, while certain construction errors can result in penalties. The player with the most points wins the game and becomes the owner of the most remarkable mansion in Entremonde.

  • Build a fully accessible mansion

An inaccessible room will not be counted in the final score. Regularly check the connections between your rooms to avoid losing valuable points at the end of the game.

  • Showcase special effects cards

Guests, architects, and decorators can significantly improve your score when used at the right time. Build your mansion with their bonuses in mind, rather than focusing solely on immediate stars.

  • Adapt your strategy to the scenario

Each scenario brings its own constraints and opportunities. Take the time to identify the most profitable objectives early on to effectively guide your building choices throughout the game.

FAQ – All you need to know about Manoir Bizarre

Is the draft hard to master?

The principle is very simple: you choose a card then pass the others to your neighbor. However, anticipating the choices of other players adds real strategic depth.

Can we only prioritize cards that award stars?

This is generally not enough. Good construction, guest bonuses, and special effects often lead to a much higher score.

Are the parties always different?

Yes. The combination of drafting, available cards, scenarios, and player choices constantly renews games and forces players to adapt their strategy.

Is Bizarre Manor more of a puzzle or an interaction game?

The two aspects are closely linked. Reflection is essential to optimize your manor, while drafting forces you to constantly monitor your opponents' choices and adjust your strategy.
