How to play Downhill Rush?
Game Setup
• Shuffle the track cards and place them in a row face up: this is the common track.
• Each player takes an empty personal play area where they will gradually place their cards.
• Decide who starts the game.
Gameplay outline
Your Turn:
- Choose a routefrom the common track, by selecting one of the available lines of cards.
- Collect the card at the end of this route.
- Add this card to your personal track, following the placement rules to build your downhill run.
- The common track fills up as you remove cards, and the game continues this way until no more moves are possible.
Each new card must be integrated into your network of tracks, creating relevant connections while anticipating obstacles that could reduce your future score.
Win/Loss Condition
When all players have completed their tracks or can no longer make a move, each player chooses their best personal track. Points are calculated based on:
• Positive points(energy bars, advantageous configurations, interesting intersections).
• Negative points(presence of Yetis, trees, or obstacles).
The player with the highest score wins the game!
Our Tips for Winning
-
Prioritize fluid lines to maximize your points
Choose routes that connect your cards without blockages. A smooth track offers more bonus point opportunities and fewer constraints during final scoring.
-
Avoid obstacles early in the game
Yeti or tree cards reduce your score; if possible, integrate them into low-value areas of your track or use them to bypass an unfavorable configuration.
-
Playing with anticipation
Look at the common track over several turns: sometimes it's better to choose a less attractive route now to block a better card your opponents might use later.
