How to play Mr. Troove?

Game Setup

  • Set up the illustrated cards, prepare the fan of questions, the team tokens, and the hourglass. Players can play individually or split into teams depending on the number of participants.
  • Each illustration contains ten hidden references to find through the questions. The goal is not only to recognize the films but also to locate the clues in the image.

Gameplay outline

  • An illustrated card is revealed in the center of the table. One team becomes active while a player reads a series of questions corresponding to that round.
  • Players then carefully observe the illustration to find hidden movie references. Some questions ask to directly recognize a movie, while others rely on more indirect clues such as an actor, a famous scene, or an iconic element.
  • Time is limited by the hourglass, which encourages teams to communicate quickly and make connections between their cinematic memories and the details present in the image.
  • Each correct answer earns points, and a bonus question can allow other teams to catch up. In total, over 800 movies are hidden in the illustrations and over 1000 questions allow for renewed games.

Win/Loss Condition

  • At the end of the designated rounds, teams tally the points earned from correct answers.
  • The team that has identified the most film references wins the game and takes home the title of best explorer of the seventh art.
