Munchkin is a cult party game that humorously parodies the worlds of fantasy, dungeons, and role-playing games. Here, forget grand heroic quests: your real goal is to accumulate levels, get the best equipment... and especially prevent other players from winning before you. Between betrayals, absurd monsters, improbable items, and temporary alliances, each game becomes a completely crazy adventure where opportunism is often more effective than courage. Quick to learn and full of twists and turns, Munchkin transforms every session into a hilarious competition.

How to play Munchkin?
Game Setup
- Each player starts with a hand of cards divided into Door cards and Treasure cards. All participants start at level 1 with no special equipment before gradually building their character.
- The cards allow players to gain a class, a race, items, bonuses, or, conversely, to trigger completely chaotic events.
Gameplay outline
- In turn, a player opens a Door. This action can reveal a monster they'll have to face, a curse, or a particular event.
- If a monster appears, the player compares their total power to that of the monster, taking into account their level, equipment, and various active bonuses. The other players can then intervene at any time to help... or deliberately complicate the fight.
- If victorious, the player generally gains levels and collects Treasure cards. If defeated, they will have to suffer the often absurd consequences imposed by the encountered monster.
- When no one is fighting, it's still possible to improve one's equipment, exchange certain cards, or prepare for future turns.
- The core of the game lies in interaction: in Munchkin, no one remains a spectator for very long.
Win/Loss Condition
- The first player to reach the required final level immediately wins the game.
- But beware: this final level generally needs to be achieved by defeating a monster. Other players, therefore, often try to slow down the leader until the very last moment.
Our Tips for Winning
-
Hide your progress for as long as possible
Showing too early that you have an advantage immediately attracts the attention of other players.
-
Don't play all your best cards at once
Keeping a few surprises in reserve often helps secure the final level when everyone is trying to block you.
-
Form smart temporary alliances
Helping a player can sometimes be more profitable than trying to win immediately.
