How to Play Nemesis Retaliation
Game Setup
Each player chooses a specialist with unique abilities and receives their starting equipment. The modular board is assembled randomly to create a different base for each game. Event, Objective, Intruder, and Equipment cards are shuffled and placed. Players start with several potential objectives, but will have to choose one during the game based on how the situation evolves.
Gameplay outline
Players progressively explore the different rooms of the base, recover equipment, accomplish missions, and confront creatures that appear as events unfold. Each turn alternates between player actions, Intruder attacks, and the resolution of an event that advances the game. Managing oxygen, ammunition, injuries, and movement constantly forces players to adapt their strategy.
Even if the team pursues a common goal, each player has personal ambitions that can lead to temporary alliances or more selfish choices when survival is at stake.
Win/Loss Condition
To win the game, a player must achieve their personal objective while surviving until evacuation or the end of the scenario. Premature death, an uncontrollable alien invasion, or failure to meet objectives can lead to individual or collective defeat, depending on the chosen game mode.
