How to play Okko?
Game Setup
- Each player is dealt a hand of cards: some represent movements, others attacksor special attacks.
- Determine who goes first (e.g., randomly).
- Place the "combat zone" between the two players, representing the distance between the fighters.
Gameplay outline
- Programming: In each round, each player chooses two cardsfrom their hand and places them face down next to the combat zone.
- Resolution: You reveal the cards one by one, then execute the actions in the chosen order (advance, retreat, strike high, strike low).
- Movement and attack: Movement cards change your position relative to your opponent (closer or further), while attack cards target "highs" or "lows" to deal damage.
- End of hand: When actions are resolved, used cards are discarded, and each player draws to replenish their hand (if the rules allow).
Win/Loss Condition
- The aim of the game is toinflict two woundson your opponent to win the duel.
- If a player suffers these two wounds, they lose the game.
Our Tips for Winning
-
Anticipate your opponent's cards
Try to guess the two cards your opponent will program: if they bet on moves to get closer, plan a "high" or "low" attack at the right time. Conversely, if they play it safe, you can take the initiative.
-
Manage your distance wisely
Movement cards are extremely important: knowing when to advance or retreat can give you a crucial advantage. Too close, and you become vulnerable to high attacks; too far, and your attacks may miss.
-
Maximize the impact of your special attacks
Special attacks are powerful cards: don't spend them lightly. Use them when you are in a favorable position (distance, ideal hand) to ensure they deal damage.
