How to play Oriflamme?

Game Setup

  • Each player receives the same set of cards representing their family members and their special abilities. A reserve of influence is placed in the center of the table to track points accumulated during the game.
  • Each participant then prepares their starting hand before beginning the struggle for power.

Gameplay outline

  • The game unfolds over several rounds.
  • In each round, all players secretly choose a card from their hand and then decide whether to place it at the beginning or end of their personal line. The cards remain hidden until activated.
  • Once all placements are complete, the cards are revealed in order and trigger their effects. Some allow you to gain influence, eliminate opposing cards, or create unexpected turnarounds.
  • An essential rule gives the game its full flavor: a card left face down accumulates influence over the rounds. You must therefore constantly choose between revealing a power quickly or waiting to maximize its yield.
  • Observing opponents' intentions becomes as important as developing your own strategy.

Win/Loss Condition

  • At the end of the last round, players add up all their influence points.
  • The player with the most accumulated influence becomes the dominant family and wins the game.
