Oriflamme: Ablaze takes the political confrontations and dirty tricks that made the Oriflamme series a success even further. In this strategy and bluffing game, noble families abandon discreet intrigues to enter an open struggle where influence, manipulation, and eliminations become decisive weapons. More explosive, more aggressive, and even more tactical, Ablaze enriches the original formula with new characters and powers capable of turning a game around in an instant. Playable alone or combined with Oriflamme, it offers a new way to conquer the throne.
How to play Oriflamme: Ablaze?
Game Setup
- Each player receives their deck of cards representing their family and characters with unique powers. As in the original game, some cards are removed to create uncertainty about the available strategies.
- Oriflamme Embrasement can be played as a standalone game or mixed with Oriflamme to create even more configurations and tactical possibilities.
Gameplay outline
- A game is played in several rounds.
- In each turn, players secretly select a card and then place it at the beginning or end of their line of play. Once placements are complete, each player chooses whether to reveal certain cards or leave them hidden.
- A card left secret gradually accumulates influence, but waiting too long can also make it vulnerable to adverse effects. When a card is revealed, its power activates immediately.
- Embrasement introduces ten new characters and more offensive powers. Some allow players to eliminate multiple opposing cards, weaken enemy influence, or even temporarily take control of rival characters. The effects create more combinations and make games more unpredictable.
Win/Loss Condition
- At the end of the last round, all players count the influence points they collected during the game.
- The player with the most political prestige wins the game and becomes the new ruler of the kingdom.
