How to play Orléans?

Game Setup

  • Each player receives a personal board, a bag containing their starting citizens, and their colored components. The main board representing the Orléans region is set up with goods, progress tracks, and available buildings.
  • The initial inhabitants placed in your bag determine your economic start. During the game, you will recruit new profiles to gradually expand your action possibilities.

Gameplay outline

  • A game of Orléans is played in several rounds divided into successive phases. In each turn, players draw citizens from their bag and then use them to activate different areas of their personal board.
  • Each type of character unlocks specific possibilities. Farmers improve your production, artisans favor development, merchants allow you to expand your commercial presence, while other profiles accelerate your movement or technological progress.
  • In parallel, you move your merchant on the map to open trading posts in new cities, collect resources, and invest in buildings offering lasting advantages.
  • The richness of Orléans comes from the balance between recruitment, upgrading your bag, and action timing. Adding too many characters can slow down your engine, while overly limited development reduces your opportunities.

Win/Loss Condition

  • After the agreed number of rounds, players proceed to the final count. Points primarily come from constructed counters, completed developments, accumulated resources, and contributions to common actions.
