How do I play The Peak Team?
Game Setup
- Unfold the board representing the nature reserve and its different sectors (trails, shelters, observation zones).
- Each player takes on the role of a ranger: choose your asymmetrical abilities if the game allows.
- Shuffle the "Provision" cards and deal them according to the rules for the initial round.
- Place the mission tokens and animals to observe on their dedicated spaces. Set the number of rounds or the difficulty level (the game offers several levels).
Gameplay outline
Each round consists of two phases:
- First, the Provision card sharing phase, where each player distributes their cards with their two neighbors.
- Then, the action phase.
During the action phase, a player can:
- Play cards to move along a trail or to a shelter, using the corresponding equipment.
- Observe an animal in their current zone, exchange cards with a neighboring player in the same zone, or complete a mission if they are at the required location.
- Also use "Support" tokens to activate special effects, usually by discarding cards.
- Pass their turn.
The round ends when everyone has passed. The game continues for the set number of rounds.
Win/Loss Condition
- Victory: Players win the game if they have completed all missionsand observed all animalsbefore the end of the last round.
- Defeat: The game is immediately lost if, at the end of a round, 4 or more missions remain unrevealed(or uncompleted) in the end-of-round slot.
- The game offers several levels of increasing difficulty, allowing you to adjust the challenge.
Our Tips for Winning
-
Optimize Provision card sharing
During the sharing phase, take the time to carefully observe what your neighbors might give you or what they need. By anticipating their needs and strategically distributing your cards, you facilitate the actions of the entire group and gain collective efficiency.
-
Plan your travel itineraries
Think in advance about the paths you will take and the equipment needed to get there. Moving costs cards, so it's best to combine movement and observation in the same area to maximize the yield of each turn.
-
Leverage the asymmetric capabilities of your ranger
Since each player embodies a ranger with unique skills, use them wisely. Some players will be better at collecting equipment, others at observation or trading. Exploiting each person's strengths makes the team more effective.
