Perudo is a classic bluffing game that combines intuition, probabilities, and psychology in games that are as tense as they are fun. Inspired by the famous traditional South American game Dudo, it invites players to bet on the number of dice hidden under the cups of all participants. How to play Perudo?

Game Setup

  • Each player receives an opaque cup and five dice.
  • All players simultaneously roll their dice, then hide them under their cups. Each player can only view their own results. The first player then opens the bidding by announcing how many dice of a certain value they believe are present under all the cups combined. The Pacos(the 1-faces) count as wild cards and can represent any value, except during certain special rounds.

Gameplay outline

  • In turn, each player must choose between two options.
  • The first is to raise the previous bid by announcing either a higher number of dice or a higher value.
  • The second is to declare "Dudo!"(or "Perudo!", depending on the version), meaning to announce that the previous player is bluffing.
  • In this case, all cups are revealed and the dice are counted. If the bid was correct, the challenging player loses a die. If, however, it was exaggerated, the bidder is penalized.
  • When a player has only one die left, a special round called Palificois triggered. During this round, Pacos are no longer wild cards, and bidding options become more limited, significantly increasing the tension.

Win/Loss Condition

  • In each round, a player loses one die.
  • Players are eliminated when they no longer have any dice.
  • The last player with at least one die remaining wins the game.
