How to play Pollen?

Game Setup

  • Place the five Flower cards in the center of the table to form the common meadow.
  • Each player chooses their pollinator species and receives their cards, as well as a secret objective consisting of flowers to prioritize during the game. These personal objectives add a dimension of reading opponents and taking risks throughout the round.

Gameplay outline

  • Players take turns using their actions to influence control of the flowers.
  • Several options are available: playing a card in your own area or your opponent's, playing certain cards face down to mislead, moving pollinators already present, or adjusting your presence on a strategic flower.
  • The entire subtlety of the game lies in majority control. You need to be in the right place while hiding your true intentions. Certain flowers can become particularly contested because they yield more points depending on each player's secret objectives. Bluffing, memory, and adaptation then become essential.

Win/Loss Condition

  • When the round ends, each flower is awarded to the player with the majority of pollinators on it.
  • Additional points are awarded if the flowers won match the secret objectives. The player with the most points wins the game.
