Présages is a strategic card game played exclusively in teams. Your objective is seemingly simple: to allow one of your teammates to be the first to hold only one card in hand. But behind this rule lies a game of great subtlety, where each card possesses a unique power capable of changing the course of the round. Between hand management, anticipation, effect combinations, and cooperation, Présages offers fast-paced games, full of twists and turns, in a superb universe inspired by the arcana of the tarot.
How to play Présages?
Game Setup
- Players split into two teams.
- Each player receives a hand of Arcane cards, while an "Absolute" card is assigned to each player at the start of the round. All cards in the game are different and have their own effect, which players will need to learn to exploit at the right moment.
Gameplay outline
- At each turn, all players simultaneously choose a card from their hand and then reveal it.
- The played card then triggers its effect. Some allow players to discard cards, exchange them with other players, modify cards already in play, or even disrupt the opposing team's plans. The effects often chain one after another, creating cascading reactions that refresh each round.
- Once the powers are resolved, the cards generally return to their owner's hand... unless an effect allows them to be permanently discarded. The entire strategy then consists of playing cards in the correct order to gradually get rid of them while helping your partner.
- As the rounds progress, players learn to recognize important cards belonging to their allies as well as their opponents. Coordination then becomes essential to prepare effective combinations and prevent the opposing team from achieving their objective.
Win/Loss Condition
- A team wins the round as soon as one of its members finishes a turn with only one card in hand.
- The first team to win two roundswins the game.
