How to play Red Notice?

Game Setup

  • Place the World Map boardin the center of the table.
  • Each player chooses (or is assigned) their role: Angela Farbank(the Forger) or Jessah Hope(the FBI Agent).
  • Angela has her secret personal world map, her Identity tilesand her Check cards.
  • Jessah receives her Radar tokens, her Barrier tokensand her Security pawn.
  • Shuffle the Action cardsand place the Initiative tokento determine who starts.

Gameplay outline

  • Each round, 4 Action cards are randomly drawn: they define the choices available to both players this turn.
  • Each player secretly places 3 Action tokensto plan their actions.
  • Angela moves from city to city secretly on her personal world mapto cash her fake checks, using her fake identities if she is spotted.
  • Jessah tries to locate and blow Angela's coversusing her Radar tokens and FBI resources, which grow stronger over the rounds.
  • Actions are then revealed and resolved simultaneously: bluff and anticipationare at the heart of every exchange.

Win/Loss Condition

  • Angela winsif she can cash checks totaling $1,000,000before being permanently captured.

Jessah winsif she captures Angela 3 times: the first two captures burn her fake IDs, the third sends her to jail.

  • As Angela: vary your routes and preserve your false identities

Your Identity tilesare your safety net. Don't burn through them unnecessarily: plan your movements to avoid monitored areas and always keep one or two identities in reserve for critical moments.

  • As Jessah: anticipate, don't react

The FBI is powerful, but slow. Rather than chasing Angela, block high-value citiesand force her to change her plans. Each cashed check strengthens your resources: use this momentum to tighten the noose.

  • Master the turn's Action cards before acting

The 4 Action cards drawn each rounddefine the rules of the game for both sides. Before placing your tokens, analyze what your opponent can or cannot do this turn. The constraint is shared: exploit it better than they do.

FAQ – All about Red Notice

Is Red Notice hard to pick up?

No. Despite its asymmetric mechanics, the game remains accessible from 10 years old. Each role has its own rules, but these are clear and well differentiated. A first game is usually enough to master the basics.

Are the two roles balanced?

Yes. Angela and Jessah have radically different goals and tools, but the game is designed so that neither is favored. Asymmetry creates tension, not imbalance.

Can you play Red Notice 2-on-2?

The game is officially designed for a head-to-head duel, but there's nothing to stop two teams from playing by consulting each other. This changes the bluffing experience, but can be a good way to discover the game with others.

How does Red Notice compare to other asymmetric duel games?

Fans of games like Mr. Jackwill find similar thrills: hunting, deduction, and asymmetrical roles. Red Notice adds a dimension of bluffing and action programmingthat gives it its own unique identity.
