Rédac’ Chef is a fast and competitive board game where you play as the editor-in-chief of a local newspaper in the lively village of Bourg-Chardon. Your mission: create the best front page by collecting article, photo, and advertisement tiles, all while outsmarting your competitors.

During each timed round, players simultaneously collect the tiles needed to compose their page. When you think you have all the material, announce "Layout!" and arrange your editorials, articles, and advertisements. Once ready, shout "Print!" to try and be the first to print and gain an advantage in the next round.

Over three hectic days, only the fastest and most organized will succeed in publishing the perfect front page and becoming the best editor-in-chief in the village.

How to play Redac'Chef

Game Setup

  • Set up the "One" boards corresponding to the players.
  • Shuffle the "Newspaper" tiles (articles, photos, ads) and place them face down.
  • Choose the timer duration for each round.

Gameplay outline

  • Reporting Phase: simultaneously, all players draw or reveal tiles, and stack them on their "desk" until they believe they have enough for their page.
  • The player announces "Layout," then moves to the next phase.
  • Editing Phase: each player arranges their tiles on their front page according to the constraints (no two identical articles side-by-side, balance of good/bad news, etc.). They announce "Printing" to indicate they have finished.

Win/Loss Condition

  • The game takes place over three days/rounds.
  • At the end, after counting the popularity points, the one with the best scorewins the title of best editor-in-chief.

Our Tips for Winning

  • Target key tiles at the beginning of the round

    Quickly identify the tiles that yield the most points or allow you to effectively fill your page. A good draw from the start makes all the difference.

  • Anticipate layout constraints

    During the layout phase, constraints such as "no two photos next to each other" or "no two ads side by side" can block your page. Keep this in mind from the reporting stage.

  • Managing your time and pressure

    Time is your ally… or your enemy. Don't waste time hesitating. A quick, well-thought-out decision is better than prolonged deliberation.
