How to Play Black Revolver?

Game Setup

Each player receives their personal deck representing the different rooms of the manor. A starting room is chosen, then the other cards are placed behind it to form your movement space. The visible card indicates your current position in the manor.

Gameplay outline

  • Players take turns using action points to move through the mansion's rooms, listen to their surroundings, set traps, or attempt a shot in the dark. Each action provides information but can also reveal your intentions to your opponent.
  • Listening, in particular, allows you to gather clues about the enemy's position, while movements must remain unpredictable to avoid being located. Traps create constant pressure, and shots require a precise reading of the opponent's behavior.
  • The game relies as much on logic as on bluffing. The better players know each other, the more psychological the duel becomes, and every decision gains importance.

Win/Loss Condition

Your goal is simple: find your opponent in the mansion and tag them twice before they do the same to you. As soon as a player successfully lands the required hits, they immediately win the game.

  • Pretend you're somewhere else

In Black Revolver, information is a weapon. Alternate your movements and use some actions just to cover your tracks rather than to gain an immediate advantage.

  • Look before you leap

A missed shot can reveal a lot about your strategy. Take the time to gather enough clues before attempting a decisive attack.

  • Utilize traps to control the mansion

Traps are not only used to injure. They also make it possible to limit possible movements and to guide the opponent's behavior.

FAQ – All About Revolver Noir

Why is Revolver Noir considered an excellent two-player microgame?

Its hidden movement and deduction system creates intense games with very few components while maintaining strong tactical depth.

Can we play without a table?

Yes, the game was designed to be ultra-compact, with cards primarily staying in players' hands throughout the game.

Is chance important in Revolver Noir?

Luck is limited. Decisions, observation, and your ability to read your opponent's intentions largely determine the outcome of the game.

Does the game favor bluffing or strategy more?

The two dimensions are inseparable. A good strategy provides reliable clues, but bluffing can make them misleading.
